This still life is a painting that I’ve realized for one of my artistic workshops.
The watercolour is a very interesting medium, because it’s possible to employ it in various techniques. Moreover, a watercolour box can be easy transported in a bag, for to paint “en plein air”.
At the beginning, I used these colours like background for mixed techniques only, because I considered them less bright than inks, then I’ve used them in order to realize realistic images. At the present, it appeals to me to experience the possibilities of the watercolours to create spots, blooms, backruns, glazings, washes, spatterings, specklings, in a continuous reaction between paper, water and colour. My mind is that a painting have not try to be a photo, but something of different, that record the trace of the painter’s hand.
Here the lights play with the transparency of the bottle and the lucidity of the flowerpot, while the spots wrap the objects and give to them a spiritual aura. The setting of the bottle, basic element of the composition, is calculated by the golden mean.
